The Capital Idea

Capital PHP was founded on the idea that it is better to be an expert at one thing than be average at many. While we certainly could have offered a slew of other technologies, we decided to choose the one that we thought was the best choice for most (PHP) and do it better than anyone else.

Why PHP?

Using PHP allows us to develop your application quickly.

PHP is virtually platform independent. This means that once your application is complete, it will run on almost any server. This saves you time and money if you later decide to change your hosting providers.

PHP is a powerful, non-proprietary scripting language that runs great on Linux with Apache and MySQL (all freely available). What this means is that you will never have to pay a licensing fee to use PHP to its full potential! For those of you that don't have your own servers, you will notice that hosting for a set-up such as that described above is a lot cheaper than others (such as ASP). This is because the hosting companies will have to maintain the licenses for those proprietary technologies.

There is a huge open source community around PHP. When a project calls for some large application to be built it may be possible to instead modify and integrate an existing application, saving development time and costs!
